just got my hands on a sxc 2.8 but.....

i get the swc menu, load up rom, but when i try to play the game all i get is a black screen. theres a 100% chance the swc been drop kicked against a wall because the unit can be easily wedged open at the back left hand side with your hand. i have a chance to buy it for a sly 10pounds along with an external diskdrive and would if i thought there was anyway that it could be fixed.
any ideas????
