Do those AV/S Video System Selectors degrade the video quality any?

I bought a GBA Tv adapter and I heard the picture quality is a lot better when fed through s video. However, I don't wanna keep unplugging my SNES everytime I want to play my GBA on my TV. Do those system selectors downgrade the picture quality any, and if so, will it be a noticeable difference?
