the "only" difference is that the game code is ENTIRELY different. the cd system has very little to do with the cart system, other than having the same CPU, video and audio chipset.
the NGCD has 7 MB of ram. how are you gonna fit a 60+ MB cart rom in there? or would you want to wait 30 seconds before performing a kick cause it needs to load the animation from CD all the time?
