FWIW I've had a CD64 for about 2 years now and haven't had many problems with it.

Occasionally I hit a transfer hiccup and have to retransfer when doing parallel port stuff, but that's about it.

I've installed a fan and a killswitch for the cdrom drive so maybe that might have something to do with it (keep from overheating it when playing).
