MGD1 question

I am the lucky owner of a working 8M MGD1. At the back of the main unit is a connector that is not used for anything. Does anyone know what the connector could be used for?

I am kinda hoping it might be used for linking the unit to a PC. Would be great if anyone could confirm/deny this.
