I used a 0.1uF cap. If you have a friend help you it shouldn't be too hard to solder down the cap. Put it in place, have a friend hold down the middle of it with a small screwdriver or some other tool, you solder both sides.
I'll bet it will work even without adding the bypass cap but try to put it on anyway, it was meant to be there.

Yeeeooowww! The Dumper, farm work out??? Not likely! Actually I would if I could find somebody better than me that would do it but in this case I did it myself.
Trust me, you'll have more trouble with the ICs.
What are the chances you can make a scan of the PCB (both sides) before you install the new chips? I'd like to see how they connect up this type of dram.
