I tried that today, it did the same thing again, plays for abit, freezes, makes some 'ticking' noises. I turn it off and on again, and get the No CD message straight away. I left it for afew hours and it did the same thing - play, stop, turn off, turn on, No CD! The connecters were held in with tape! It all seems OK inside. Do you think its the CD ROM drive? It does sound a little different when it is working OK than it did.

> worth checking the IDE cable is seated correctly. When you've got the V64 apart, just unplug all the various leads from the boards and plug them back in again.
