GDSF6/GDSF7 differences?

What's the difference between these two copiers? The hardware is at least cosmetically similar, and the feature set is close enough as well, besides a few protection options. Is it just a BIOS difference, and if so is it possible to upgrade a sf6 to an sf7 with a rom swap?
