I don't know anything about the "right way" to do it but if your system will play 32Mb games you could just convert your 24Mb ROMs to 32Mb ROMs and it should work. Do this by copying the last 8Mb of data (watch for header alignment) to fill to 32Mb and then adjust the size parameter in the header to show 32Mb.
