help with eprom!!!

i need to know if in order to upgrade the bios in my eprom i have to use the original one??
or can i use other eprom chip and burn the 2.7 version into it???
if so can anyone direct me to amodel of a chip that is right for my copier

i have a super wildcard 1.6c
