The SMS adapters and such probably won't work, but the basic MD IO (at least certainly the 8M SRAM original) should work fine on the nomad, provided it has the physical clearance in the slot for the rounded shape of the IO. I don't have one, but it may be keyed to fit with US (if that's what you have) carts/nomads, whereas the jap md's weren't, and the mgd2 IO follows that convention.
