> My GDSF7 had the same problems, and a new SNES deck did the trick. The 'fucked' console was from around when the SNES was released in '91. My guess is at some point the SNES cicuitry changed and the backup units were desinged with only newer SNES versions in mind.
> So, if you're having freezing/glitching/crashing problems, might want to look into getting another deck, pretty cheap only $15-20 or so. How do you tell which one to get? Well the early SNES units used some cheap plastic that yellowed very easily over age, avoid those. Another way to tell, get a SNES deck that has the small grey warning label below the power switch. Worked for me.
I wonder about that because the messed up SNES and the working one that I
have look identical. Both have the sticker in front of the power switch
and no discolored plastic (but usually that only happens from UV exposure
and I don't leave it in direct sunlight.)
I haven't taken it apart to see if there is any difference inside, but from
the outside they look the same. So I'm not really sure how you could tell
if you were getting a dud one. The serial number of the bad one is
UN277830539 and the serial number of the good one is UN273963255.
So, anyone want to buy a SNES? Low price! In great condition with no
plastic discoloring! No guarantees it will work with a wildcard, but
according to some people here, all wildcards are fucked anyway. ;-)
BTW I have had this wildcard for awhile, so very recent ones could be
different, all I know is that mine is working.
