12V 750mA should be OK for testing -- so long as it is DCV center negative, but I would get a 9VDC transformer for continuous use. There is a voltage regulator inside the unit that is rated to handle 12V which will drop the voltage (down to 5V) but the more voltage you drop the more heat you generate, and too much heat is bad. A problem with wall transformers is they are usually poorly regulated so even if you have a 12V power supply you might get 15-16V out of it.
Actually I can't remember if the Super UFO must be center negative, but it's the best because it's compatable with everything else. The GDSF7 must be center negative. The SWC DX2 has a diode bridge that will handle either polarity.
