If a new unit had a problem it would be a quality control problem and you should be able to get it replaced under warranty.

But, if you're looking for something else, Game Doctor SF7 / Professor SF II are very good units but are no longer manufactured.

Super UFO Pro 8 is a pretty good unit if you can deal with floppy loading only and 32Mb max memory.
