There are other units that support CD-ROM. The SWC DX2 supports Hard Drive, CD-ROM, and Zip Drive. You have to use the SWC DX2's "Disk Dual" or another unit with a 100% compatible controller (the Disk Dual controller is made by Kingbyte).

I think the best solution is the Zip drive solution, but you have to find an older parallel zip 100. Newer ones won't work. I have a hard drive, CD-rom, and zip drive all hooked up to my DX2, and the zip drive is the most convenient (the Disk Dual weighs about 20 pounds - it's huge).
