Well

I always use my comp to upload the ROMS/SRMs or download them to the computer.

If you have a big HD, 10 gigs, you can have all the ROMS and the savestates in one folder, and you can sort them, rename em, anything you like, anytime. And since my TV, computer and my stereo and speakers are in my room, why would I need an extra machine, when everything can be stored on the comp?
Maybe most people don't, but I have my computer on like 12 hours a day. When I go out, I just let it be on...
Restarts and stuff take such a long time :P
