Actually 9 volts is enough to start a fire. When I was a kid
I used to like to take pieces of mechanical pencil lead and touch
it to a 9V battery and watch it burn. :)
Anyway, that fuse is probably the only thing that kept you from
killing your SNES. If you don't have a fuse, then the next time
you have a mishap with the power supply, it won't be so easy to fix.
