There are 4 backup units for the N64:

Z64 (zip disks)
CD64 (CDR/pclink)
Doctor V64 (CDR/pclink)
V64jr (pclink)

The only unit that has more than 256mbit of ram is the V64jr, but that unit is the most inconvenient due having no media. I own a DoctorV64 and am very happy with it, however, i would like to point out that the N64 simply does not have very many good games. :) I did not like the Z64 because it relied on Zip disks, and while I owned a CDR, I did not own a zip drive, and it seemed silly to buy a new drive for my pc that held significantly less data on it. Back in the day people argued that cds were not rewritable so this was costly, but nowadays you can get a 50pk spindle for $17 or less.. :) I did not recommend the CD64 because I know when it first came out there were reports of it overheating/etc, but from what I gather that has improved. In my opinion, when in doubt go with Bung, but that's just my .02 cents, hopefully this gives you some perspective.
