There is no real answer for this. The only device that can play 512mbit games is the v64jr, but it has no built in storage, so it is less convenient to use than the others. It has to be hooked up to a PC any time you load a game, and if your PC isn't right next to your N64, this is a hassle.

The Z64 is probably the best designed and built hardware. The CD64 is the only device still being supported (by the manufacturer anyway). The Doctor V64 is pretty much obsolete.. It depends on what your preference is. If you want the most features, and don't mind putting up with some hardware quirks/problems, the CD64 is the way to go. I personally like the Z64. I own several different units.. but I don't have a CD64. It might be my favorite if I had one.

You will find more N64 Backup related information at http://www.dextrose.com. This is a site dedicate to N64 backup devices.

I don't think there was ever a "Wildcard V64". You are confusing 2 different units. There was a "Wildcard 64", which didn't last long, and the "Doctor V64" which was the most popular unit in the early days.
