get jap a game to work on a usa genesis??????

i have the mgd2 and when i load rock man it gives me a warning that the game is ment for the jap megadrive.
what can i do???
i did try a mega key and set the dips to jap and the game worked.
is there a way to mod the genesis or to change the rom to play with out the mega key???
if not can some one tell me a good place to get the mega key because the one i tried is my friends.
