Problems with Doctor V64

Hi I'm wondering if anybody can help me out here...I've tried contacting BUNG but they're no help at all....

I have a doctor V64 and it refuses to work with my US N64, but it works fine with a European N64...I don't get it. I've tried it with Starfox 64 and Mortal Kombat 64 (on the US)...is it the cartridge or is there something I need to change in order to make it work???? somebody help please!!!
